Malbec is a traditional red wine from Argentina, best enjoyed with hearty food.

This wine comes from the Paicines AVA in San Benito County. The vineyard is just south of the town of Hollister, about 35 miles inland from the ocean. In 2020 it was one of the few areas untouched by wildfire and smoke.

Bottled early, similar to a Beajolais Noveau, this wine is young and vibrant, fruit forward and floral. The nose has notes of black, blue and purple fruits with a dash of black tea and oak. The wine has about 5% Torrontes blended back into it to give it brighter aromatics.

Ageable for 10-15 years, the wine was aged for 16 months on 50% new French Oak. Flavors of cranberry, blackberry, violets and terroir and will continue to develop nicely for many years to come.
